Workflow Statuses

Workflow statuses represent the execution state of a workflow. They are derived from the statuses of all products included in the workflow.

Use the workflow status to determine whether processing is in progress, has completed, or has failed. Use the individual product statuses to determine the outcome of each verification or check.

Note

A workflow status of completed indicates that Fourthline has finished processing the workflow. It does not indicate that the client has been approved or that all verification results are successful.

Individual products can return terminal statuses such as inconsistent_data, kyc_required` etc.. Always evaluate the products status values, together with any associated risk or status messages, before onboarding a client or releasing funds.

Statuses

The possible workflow statuses are:

Status	Guidance
`new`	Description: The workflow has been successfully created. Action: Wait for the next status.
`pending`	Description: One or more products in the workflow are still being processed. Action: Get workflow status and check each product's `status` for more details
`completed`	Description: Processing finished; per-product outcomes may still be negative. Action: Get workflow status, then Get JSON report or other reports when your process allows.
`failed`	Description: The workflow couldn't proceed due to invalid or incomplete input data. One or more products encountered issues during processing. Action: Get workflow status and check each product's `status` for more details.

Identity Verification

The product status represents the outcome of the Identity Verification product. The workflow status represents the execution state of the workflow. As a result, multiple product statuses can map to the same workflow status.

A workflow reaches completed when it has produced a final verification result, regardless of whether that result is positive or negative. The product status provides the outcome of that verification. Only invalid_data maps to the workflow status failed because the workflow could not complete and therefore could not produce a verification result.

Bank Account Verification

In API v2, Bank Account Verification appears as Payments in products[].name on Get workflow status. For status codes and recommended actions, see Product statuses.

The product status represents the outcome of the Bank Account Verification product. The workflow status represents the execution state of the workflow. As a result, multiple product statuses can map to the same workflow status.

A workflow reaches completed when it has produced a final Bank Account Verification result, regardless of whether that result requires additional action. The product status provides the outcome of that verification. Only failed maps to the workflow status failed because the workflow could not complete the Bank Account Verification.

Qualified Electronic Signature

In API v2, Qualified Electronic Signatures appears as Signatures in products[].name on Get workflow status. For status codes and recommended actions, see Product statuses.

The product status represents the outcome of the Qualified Electronic Signature product. The workflow status represents the execution state of the workflow. As a result, multiple product statuses can map to the same workflow status

A workflow reaches completed when it has produced a final signing result, regardless of whether that result is successful or requires additional action. The product status provides the outcome of the signing process.

Only error and invalid_signature map to the workflow status failed because the workflow could not complete the signing process.
